From the Foster: Tweety Bird is one special girl. She is from a breeder that had over 100 dogs on their property. Most of them came out of there covered in fleas and ticks, and having had little to no interaction with people their entire lives. Some of them have thrived and are living in new forever families already, while others are taking longer to adjust to this new world that is so very foreign to them. I have had Tweety Bird, affectionately referred to as Bird Dog, for about ten weeks come September. We have been working with her to show her that people are good... we come with things like treats and peanut butter! Her progress has been very slow. She is a very sweet girl without a mean bone in her body. She does not like other dogs to come into her special space, but outside of her area she does well with the other dogs, choosing not to engage very much with them. She is house trained with routine, but will regress if not let out. She likes to collect and gather up toys and bring them into her "den". She will come out for a treat, but mostly keeps to herself. She likes to race from one end of the yard to the other. Going on a walk terrifies her and makes her super intrigued all at the same time. Tweety has come an awful long way already, but she still has a long way to go! While Tweety has a foster home with us for as long as she needs it, we have decided to make her available for adoption with full disclosure about her progress thus far. We love her and will continue to care for her, but if that special adopter is out there who would wish to continue what we have begun, then it would be to her benefit to continue to learn in her forever home.
