It's Bond vs. Bond in 'Deathmatch' video

By Randee Dawn, NBC News contributor

Talk about spy vs. spy! James Bond fans may have long wondered which Bond is the greatest. But which one would survive a death match:?Roger Moore, Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan or Daniel Craig?

Brad Hansen, an editor and director with his own YouTube channel, decided to find out. Using his top-notch editing skills, he spliced together scenes from various James Bond films that appear to pit one Bond against the other, in his latest short film "Deathmatch."

There's Daniel Craig and Sean Connery in an aerial dogfight! There's Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton training guns on one another -- and a rematch involving rockets, missiles and cars all at the same time. And then there's poor old George Lazenby. It's not so much what Daniel Craig does to him or not -- Lazenby always loses.

You may not agree with the one man left standing at the end ... but the ride getting there is absolutely worth taking.

(And stick around past the "credits" -- there's one final deathmatch between much, much lesser-known Bonds left!)

Check out the video!

Amplats to reinstate 12,000 South Africa strikers

JOHANNESBURG (AP) ? Anglo American Platinum agreed to reinstate 12,000 South African workers dismissed earlier this month for staging illegal strikes, a spokeswoman said Saturday, as police fired rubber bullets at some striking miners in Rustenburg.

The police fired on hundreds of Anglo American Platinum, or Amplats, miners in the North West province who had gathered near the Olympia Stadium, apparently to block another rally by the Congress of South Africa Trade Unions (COSATU). It was unclear if anyone had been injured.

The Amplats strikers, in the black T-shirts associated with the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) and armed with sticks and stones, threatened to attack COSATU marchers in red T-shirts, according to the South African Press Association, which reported Saturday that some of the miners had vowed not to return to work until their wage demands were met.

AMCU is a start-up union that represents strikers who regard COSATU and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) as too close to mine bosses and their capital. The miners said that representatives from NUM have not been properly representing them during the strikes.

Some of the Amplats miners had been threatening since their dismissal to make the company's three operations in Rustenburg ungovernable if they were not reinstated and their salaries increased. They want 16,000 rand (about $1,800) in monthly pay. Amplats only offered them a one-off "hardship allowance" of 2,000 rand (about $230) if they accepted to return to work.

Mpumi Sithole of Anglo American Platinum said the workers had until Tuesday to return to their jobs "on the same terms and conditions of employment" as before they went on strike.

Sithole said that a meeting Friday of "all parties expressed commitment for a return to work in the interests of the employees, their livelihoods and the company." Amplats' decision to reinstate the fired workers came the day after the chief executive of its parent company, Anglo American, announced her resignation. Earlier this month the rating service S & P's had lowered its outlook on Anglo American from "stable" to "negative" because of the turmoil in South Africa. Amplats is the world's top producer of platinum.

If the Amplats miners return to work, it would bring an end to labor unrest that damaged South Africa's reputation as an investment destination. At the peak of the strikes, some 80,000 miners, representing about 16 percent of the mining workforce, were on strike across South Africa. The labor unrest originated in the platinum belts outside Johannesburg and later spread to gold and iron mines.

Should You Sell Your House Without a Realtor?

Thinking of selling your home yourself? For Sale by Owner, also known as FSBO, is the process of selling your home without having a real estate agent represent you. Some people sell their home FSBO because they?re going to sell it to someone they know. But usually they sell their own home to avoid paying a commission to an agent.

Here are a few things to keep in mind if you?re thinking of selling your home without the help of a real estate agent.

Watch John and Anthony on Fox25 Morning News in Boston talk about the Pros and Cons of FSBO

click image below to watch video (new window will open):

The Pros and Cons of FSBO

Tips for Selling Your Home FSBO

Serious home buyers search online for homes in the area and know what homes like yours are selling for, so be sure to price your home within this range. FSBO sellers often overprice their homes without researching comparable homes in the area. A report on FSBO sales from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) shows that FSBO home sellers find getting the right price for their home is one of the most difficult aspects of selling a home on their own. Take the time to research recent home sales in your neighborhood to determine the right price for your home.

A ?for sale? sign in front of your home is not enough. You need to think about the best ways to market your home. Start by taking high quality pictures of all the rooms and features of your home. And don?t take one picture per room, take several. In a listing, the more pictures the better. Getting online exposure for your home is a necessity. There are many FSBO listing sites that will post your listing for a fee. And don?t forget other online channels such as Facebook or Craigslist to feature the home. It?s also a good idea to hire a real estate attorney to prepare the purchase and sales agreement and advise you on any legal matters that come up during the sale.

Does a Homeowner Really Save by Selling on Their Own?

The quick answer is NO but let?s break down the numbers. ?If your home is worth $200,000 on the open market when you hire a Realtor you would be paying a 5-6% commission, or about $10,000 to $12,000.? Most FSBO?s realize that they have to offer a commission to a Real Estate agent who brings a buyer.? The typical commission to a buyer?s agent is 2.5% which is $5,000.? So now you are down to saving $5,000 to $7000.? But that can and probably will get eaten up during a negotiation due to a seller being less experienced at negotiating than a Realtor. ?Therefore the seller is more likely to make the wrong comment that can and probably will work against them. In addition to this, the typical FSBO home sells for much less, around $150,000 according to NAR, compared to $215,000 for agent-assisted home sales.

Why it?s Not a Good Idea to Sell Your Home without a Real Estate Agent

The share of FSBO sales has been decreasing according to NAR. In 2001 13% of sellers sold their own homes. In 2011 it fell to 10%. More home sellers are using real estate agents to sell their homes because they know the home will sell for more money, even with the commission.

Because real estate agents have more experience and resources for selling homes, they can also sell your home faster than selling FSBO. According to data from the MLS Property Information Network for the past month, of homes sold priced between $300,000 and $500,000, 1,376 were traditional homes sales using an agent and 35 (just 2%) were FSBO. Of the traditional sales, homes spent an average of 110 days on the market before they were sold. FSBO sales, on the other hand, spent an average of 141 days on market?28% longer than traditional sales.

One of the most common things home sellers forget to factor in is the time involved in selling a home. Not just the time needed preparing the home for sale by doing such things as clearing the clutter, making repairs and staging the home to make it more appealing to buyers. You also need to set aside enough time to devote to marketing and showing the home. Most home buyers look at homes on the weekends so you?ll need to be around to show the home. You?ll also need to be available on short notice in case a home buyer wants to see the home right away.

When you sell your own home it will be seen by far fewer buyers than it would if you used an agent. Giving the home maximum exposure is essential to selling a home. Most buyers search online for homes before they schedule an appointment to see the home in person. The problem with FSBO homes is that only a licensed real estate agent or broker can list a home on a Multiple Listing Service, or MLS.

You do have the option of listing your home on a Flat-fee MLS. These services have a licensed agent list the property for you for a one-time fee. Some of these services will just show your listing on the basic MLS, and for an additional fee the listing will be shown on other real estate sites such as Realtor.com and Trulia. If a licensed agent shows and sells your property you will still have to pay a commission.

Keep in mind many home buyers feel uncomfortable giving their honest opinion of the home or they won?t ask questions with the homeowner right there. They also may not know how to negotiate an offer with a seller directly. They expect an agent to do that for them. And before a buyer?s agent brings in potential buyers, they will want to have you sign an agreement that says you will pay them a commission if they bring in a buyer who buys your home.

And finally, many sellers who sell their homes FSBO don?t know how to properly market the home. According to an NAR 2011 study of home buyers and sellers, a yard sign was the most popular method for selling their home. This method advertises only to people driving past your home, not all of the potential buyers looking for homes.

How a Real Estate Agent Sells Your Home

A good real estate agent has a large network of contacts and resources to effectively market and sell your home. They can post your listing on MLS and other high traffic site like Trulia, Realtor.com, and Zillow. They can send out online newsletters to their contact list to advertise your home. A good real estate agent will also have access to virtual floor plan software to showcase your home with high definition pictures.

A real estate agent also provides valuable services such as screening potential buyers for you, making sure they are financially able to buy your property before they even see it. They can give you an estimate of the closing costs, so there are no surprises. They can offer tips on what today?s buyers are looking for and what you can do to increase the home?s appeal.

An experienced real estate agent will also know what to do if an issue comes up during the sale such as a failed septic inspection or a property line dispute. An agent won?t have an emotional attachment to the house so they can be objective and effectively negotiate the terms of the sale. They will take care of such paperwork as legal documents and advise you about which documents need to be filled out and signed. So if you?re serious about selling your home for a good price, leave the work to an experienced real estate agent.

Google Maps v?a web

UPDATE: Dragon Oil expects production growth of 10% this year

---Adds broker comments---

() told investors it will achieve production growth of around 10% this year.

This morning Dragon said it produced an average of 69,600 barrels of oil per day during the third quarter at its operations in the Caspian Sea.

It follows work to overcome ?sanding? problems which restricted production in a number of wells earlier this year.

"In the third quarter of this year we achieved a 13% increase in the gross production compared to the same period last year,? said chief executive Dr Abdul Jaleel Al Khalifa.

?The sanding issues were put under control allowing us to restore the gross production to above 70,000 bopd in mid-August and we have been maintaining the production above this level since then.

?The gross production growth for 2012 is expected to be 10%, a solid result given constrained production in the second quarter of this year.?

The company sold 2.8 million barrels of oil during the third quarter, 4% more than in the same period of last year, and it realised an average sales price of US$98 per barrel ? a 11% discount to Brent.

All of Dragon?s oil was exported via Azerbaijan. And the company says it is in negotiations over marketing arrangements for future exports.

Dragon also revealed that it has now contracted two additional platform based rigs to increase its offshore drilling capacity in the Caspian Sea.

It expects to achieve 10% production growth this year, and it says that next production growth will be at the lower end of its 10-15% guidance.

Production is still expected to grow between 10-15% each year in the period between 2012 and 2015, which will take the fields output to 100,000 barrels per day during 2015.

Dragon says it aims to maintain this peak production for five years, from 2016 onwards.

Dublin based broker Davy highlights that Dragon will have to continue investing in infrastructure as it builds towards its 100,000 barrel a day target.

?The next two years will be particularly important in drilling and infrastructure investment terms, and the news of two new platform rigs is particularly welcome as will be the expected mid-year arrival of the Caspian driller,? said analyst Job Langroek.

On the exploration front the company is expected drilling to get underway on the Bargou permit, offshore Tunisia, between December and March.

?

It also highlights that it has pre-qualified for an upcoming bidding round for the Afghan-Tajik oil and gas blocks in Afghanistan. The award of contracts is expected in the early part of next year.

Final debate: Challenging each other face to face

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) ? President Barack Obama sharply challenged Mitt Romney on foreign policy in their final campaign debate Monday night, saying, "Every time you've offered an opinion you've been wrong." The Republican coolly responded, "Attacking me is not an agenda" for dealing with a dangerous world.

Romney took the offensive, too. When Obama said the U.S. and its allies have imposed crippling sanctions on Iran to halt nuclear weapons development, the Republican challenger responded that the U.S. should have done more. He declared repeatedly, "We're four years closer to a nuclear Iran."

Despite the debate's stated focus on foreign affairs, time after time the rivals turned the discussion back to the slowly recovering U.S. economy, which polls show is the No. 1 issue for most voters.

They found little agreement on that, but the president and his rival found accord on at least one international topic with domestic political overtones ? Israel's security ? as they sat at close quarters 15 days before the end of an impossibly close election campaign. Each stressed unequivocal support for Israel when asked how he would respond if the Jewish state were attacked by Iran.

"If Israel is attacked, we have their back," said Romney ? moments after Obama vowed, "I will stand with Israel if Israel is attacked."

Both also said they oppose direct U.S. military involvement in the efforts to topple Syrian President Bashir Assad.

The debate produced none of the finger-pointing and little of the interrupting that marked the presidential rivals' debate last week, when Obama needed a comeback after a listless performance in their first meeting on Oct. 3.

But there was no mistaking the urgency. The two men frequently sniped at one another even on issues where they agree, and reprised their campaign-long disagreements over the economy, energy, education and other domestic issues despite ground rules that stipulated the debate cover international affairs.

Obama and Romney are locked in a close race in national opinion polls. The final debate behind them, both men intend to embark on a final two-week whirlwind of campaigning. The president is slated to speak in six states during a two-day trip that begins Wednesday and includes a night aboard Air force One as it flies from Las Vegas to Tampa. Romney intends to visit two or three states a day.

Already four million ballots have been cast in early voting in more than two dozen states.

On the Middle East, Romney said that despite early hopes, the ouster of despotic regimes in Egypt, Libya and elsewhere over the past year has resulted in a "rising tide of chaos." He said the president has failed to come up with a coherent policy to grapple with change sweeping the Middle East, and he added ominously that an al-Qaida-like group has taken over northern Mali.

Anticipating one of Obama's most frequent campaign assertions, Romney said of the man seated nearby, "I congratulate him on taking out Osama bin Laden and taking on the leadership of al-Qaida. But we can't kill our way out of this. ... We must have a comprehensive strategy."

More than a half hour later, Obama returned to the subject, saying that Romney had once said it wasn't worth moving heaven and earth to catch one man, a reference to the mastermind behind the 9/11 terror attacks.

He said he had decided it was "worth heaven and earth."

Obama said he had ended the war in Iraq, was on a path to end the U.S. combat role in Afghanistan and has vowed to bring justice to the attackers of the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi last month ? an assault that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans.

He also jabbed at Romney's having said during the campaign that Russia is the United States' No. 1 geopolitical foe.

"Governor, when it comes to our foreign policy you seem to want the policies of the 1980s, just like you want to import the social policies of the 1950s and the economic policies in the 1920s," Obama said.

Obama was snippy after Romney, criticizing the administration's Pentagon budget, said disapprovingly the U.S. Navy has fewer ships than at any time since the end of World War I.

"I think Governor Romney maybe hasn't spent enough time looking at how our military works. You mentioned the Navy, for example, that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets because the nature of our military has changed. We have these things called aircraft carriers where planes land on them."

Romney offered unusual praise for Obama's war efforts in Afghanistan, declaring the 2010 surge of 33,000 U.S. troops a success and asserting that efforts to train Afghan security forces are on track to enable the U.S. and its allies to put the Afghans fully in charge of security by the end of 2014. He said that U.S. forces should complete their withdrawal on that schedule; previously he has criticized the setting of a specific withdrawal date.

The two men are locked in a close race in national opinion polls. The final debate behind them, they intend to embark on a final two-week whirlwind of campaigning. The president is slated to speak in six states during a two-day trip that begins Wednesday and includes a night aboard Air force One as it flies from Las Vegas to Tampa. Romney intends to visit two or three states a day.

Already four million ballots have been cast in early voting in more than two dozen states.

Barring a last-minute change in strategy by one campaign or the other, Obama appears on course to win states and the District of Columbia that account for 237 of the 270 electoral votes needed for victory. The same is true for Romney in states with 191 electoral votes.

The battlegrounds account for the remaining 110 electoral votes: Florida (29), North Carolina (15), Virginia (13), New Hampshire (4), Iowa (6), Colorado (9), Nevada (6), Ohio (18) and Wisconsin (10).

The televised debate brought no cessation to other campaigning.

Obama's campaign launched a television ad in Florida that said the president ended the war in Iraq and has a plan to do the same in Afghanistan, accusing Romney of opposing him on both. It was not clear how often the ad would air, given the fall's overall focus on the economy.

Vice President Joe Biden, campaigning in Canton, Ohio, emphasized differences between the two candidates on the war in Afghanistan.

"We will leave Afghanistan in 2014, period. They say it depends," he said. "Ladies and gentlemen, like everything with them, it depends. It depends on what day you find these guys."

Romney's running mate, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, was in Colorado. "We are in the midst of deciding the kind of country we're going to be, the kind of people we're going to be, for a generation," he said.

Whatever the outcome of the final face-to-face confrontation, the debates have left an imprint on the race. Romney was widely judged the winner of the first debate over a listless president on Oct. 3, and he has risen in polls in the days since. Obama was much more energetic in the second.

Monday night marked the third time in less than a week that the president and his challenger shared a stage, following the feisty 90-minute town-hall-style meeting last Tuesday on Long Island and a white-tie charity dinner two night later where gracious compliments flowed and barbs dipped in humor flew.

At the Al Smith charity dinner, Obama previewed his all-purpose fallback to criticism on international affairs.

"Spoiler alert: We got bin Laden," he said, a reminder of the signature foreign policy triumph of his term, the death at the hand of U.S. special operations forces of the mastermind behind the terror attacks on the United States more than a decade ago.

The president and his challenger agreed long ago to devote one of their three debates to foreign policy, even though opinion polls show voters care most about economic concerns.

Growth has been slow and unemployment high across Obama's tenure in the White House. Romney, a wealthy former businessman, cites his experience as evidence he will put in place policies that can revive the economy.

In recent weeks, the former Massachusetts governor has stepped up his criticism of the president's handling of international matters, although his campaign hasn't spent any of its television advertising budget on commercials on the subject.

In a speech earlier this month, Romney accused the president of an absence of strong leadership in the Middle East, where popular revolutions have swept away autocratic regimes in Egypt and elsewhere in the past two years. He has also accused Obama of failing to support Israel strongly enough, of failing to make it clear that Iran will not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon and of backing cuts in the defense budget that would harm military readiness.

Yet Romney has stumbled several times in attempting to establish his own credentials.

He offended the British when he traveled to England this summer and made comments viewed as critical of their preparation for the Olympic Games.

Democrats pounced when he failed to mention the U.S. troops in Afghanistan or Iraq during his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in late August, and officials in both parties were critical of his comments about the attack in Benghazi while the facts were unknown.

It's much easier for consumers to justify continued support of a celebrity or politician disgraced by scandal when they separate moral judgments about a public figure from assessments of their professional performance, according to a new study in the Journal of Consumer Research.

"Distinguishing between morality and performance allows consumers to avoid condoning immoral behavior. This may be one reason that the public discourse around scandals often focuses on the relationship between performance and morality rather than how wrong an action is," write authors Amit Bhattacharjee (Dartmouth College), Jonathan Z. Berman, and Americus Reed II (both Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania).

What do Bill Clinton, Martha Stewart, Tiger Woods, and Roman Polanski have in common? They are all public figures whose reputations have been threatened by scandals attracting relentless media coverage. How do consumers justify buying products endorsed by a celebrity accused of immoral actions or voting for a politician implicated in a scandal?

While some consumers withdraw their support, others may find ways to justify continuing their support either by excusing or justifying the immoral actions in question or separating a judgment of morality about the public figure from an assessment of their performance.

For example, after Tiger Woods admitted to adultery, consumers argued that they don't care for Tiger Woods as a person but still think he is the best golfer in the world and thus will continue to purchase his golf clubs. Instead of arguing that an immoral action is not that severe, consumers prefer to argue that it's not that relevant.

"It may feel wrong to say that immoral actions are acceptable. We don't want to be judged negatively by others for justifying bad behavior. Separating morality from professional standing may be especially appealing, and especially prevalent in public scandals, because it allows us to support an immoral actor without condoning their actions. It's a win-win," the authors conclude.

10 tech trends that could kill Facebook | News | TechRadar

900 million users can't be wrong about anything, right? MySpace had 100 million users in its prime, but today has only about 25 million users, most of them bands that don't realise they should create a Tumblr page or start tweeting instead.

But Facebook has a death grip on our social sub-conscious and seems wholly unstoppable. It's hard it imagine going even one day without checking your feed for those new baby photos from Aunt Mary or commenting on some rabid political discourse.

Yet, as we have learned recently when Mexico bested Brazil for Olympic gold, even the mightiest among us can fall prey to a determined underdog. And what could kill Facebook? From a tiny startup capturing the mindhive to the smartphone in your pocket, several new trends could spell Facebook doom.

1. Mobile dominance

This one has Facebook worried, and for good reason. On the small screen, banner ads are almost microscopic, so advertisers are concerned about whether anyone will notice them. And even when we do, we tend to click away from the ads or choose services that are less commercialised.

2. Competitor growth

Those under 18 have started clicking away from Facebook for engaging competitors. This trend has more to do with attention span than anything. Sites such as Tumblr and Pinterest are growing because we have so little time to waste online ? we want to scan quickly and find interesting content. And, sometimes a new site with a fresh design takes root and grows while the legacy sites fade.

3. Privacy concerns

10 tech trends that will kill Facebook

Facebook does not have a stellar track record on privacy. For the most part, those 900 million users have given the service a free pass. But new identity theft challenges are cropping up. One new technique can scan for your credit card number online and start posting the number on Twitter. One day, millions of users might suddenly decide they don't trust Facebook any more, especially with those baby pictures.

4. Storage costs

Anyone who follows technology knows that storage costs are coming down. It's getting cheaper to produce mass storage systems. Even Dropbox has been handing out more storage to users for free lately (It added 8GB to our account for no apparent reason). Yet, as the user count rises, so does the need for more advertising to pay for that increase in capacity. We also know video will only increase in resolution, more users will post photos, and Big Data storage issues will only get worse.

5. Investor backlash

We now know Facebook is not worth quite as much as some thought. That could be problematic over the long run, as more investors start critiquing the business plans, condemning Facebook for privacy violations, and users switch en masse to mobile devices, pulling the plug on financing.

6. Mark Zuckerberg

10 tech trends that will kill Facebook

He's widely considered a boy genius, but the hoodie-wearing CEO could follow the path of Jerry Yang from Yahoo! and countless other founders. In tech circles, a bright idea can lead to quick growth, but scaling a popular service into a large enterprise can take a different kind of vision, one that hinges more on financial accountability, management savviness and the ability to scale data for growth.

7. Lack of vision

We all know what Facebook is now. There's a steady stream of personal updates, photos, and the occasional video. No other service can quite match Facebook in terms of a popular forum for discussion, and it's one of the best ways to find long-forgotten family members and co-workers. Yet, whether Facebook survives depends on a long-term vision. Will the teens of today want to keep posting status updates when they are 25? Probably not. If the site does not morph with the masses, it could die.

8. Social splintering

10 tech trends that will kill Facebook

Facebook is a one-size-fits-all social network. Meanwhile, Google Plus has become the place for more technically astute users. Yet we're already seeing a splintering into factions: Instagram is for those with more of a visual mindset, and sites such as Reddit.com are packed with users who have strong opinions. In the future, social networks might pop up that cater only to photographers or sports nuts.

9. Unexpected disasters

A massive earthquake takes out one of Facebook's data centers. A virus spreads through the network and works its havoc over several weeks, leaving no trace of its origin. A new "feature" leaks the data for every user to a foreign country. Who knows what catastrophe might befall a company with 900 million users? And, more importantly, who knows if Facebook is prepared to deal with the problem.

10. User revolt

One last possible Facebook killer is user revolt. After years of agreeing to look at ads that match up with our personal (but private) interests, sharing data that we'd normally keep more private, and serving as pawns in the grand scheme of things (Facebook earns money from each specific user), we might finally just call it quits. Users might close up accounts for good and move on to the next big thing.

Indiana Fever captures first WNBA championship

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Tamika Catchings finally has the only title that was missing from her incredible basketball resume - a WNBA championship.

She scored 25 points to help the Indiana Fever win their first WNBA title with an 87-78 victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday night.

Catchings, who was the MVP of the Finals, averaged 24.8 points in the series, which the Fever won 3-1 over the defending WNBA champions.

''When you come into this league, your goal and dream is to win a WNBA championship,'' Catchings said. ''Twelve years later ... it's so sweet right now.''

Catchings had won three Olympic gold medals and an NCAA championship at Tennessee in 1998, but never a WNBA one. She had been in a position to clinch at home before. The Fever led Phoenix 2-1 in the best-of-five WNBA Finals in 2009, but the Mercury beat the Fever 90-77, took the series back to Phoenix and won the title at home in Game 5.

This time, Catchings took it home with college coach Pat Summitt looking on in the crowd.

The Fever won even though No. 2 scorer Katie Douglas missed most of the series with a severely sprained left knee. Douglas checked in with 3.2 seconds left to a loud ovation.

Erin Phillips added 18 points and eight rebounds while Shavonte Zellous and Briann January each had 15 points for the Fever.

Minnesota was trying to become the first team to repeat since Los Angeles in 2001 and 2002.

''It was hard being the hunted, as we all know,'' Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve said. ''There's a reason this hasn't been done in over 10 years. I really felt like if there was a team that could do it, it was our team.''

Indiana held Minnesota below 40 percent shooting in all three wins.

''They played good defense,'' Minnesota guard Lindsay Whalen said. ''They contested shots and they made it tough for us to get in the lane a little bit. I think that was the theme of the whole series. They were just tough, and give them credit for the way they played.''

Indiana led 63-58 at the end of the third quarter of Game 4. Minnesota cut Indiana's lead to 70-67 on a jumper by Maya Moore, but Phillips scored on a drive past Moore, got a defensive rebound, then found Shavonte Zellous for a 3-pointer from the left corner to give the Fever a 75-67 lead with 4:58 remaining.

Indiana led by at least five points the rest of the way. A 3-pointer by January gave Indiana an 80-72 lead with 1:18 to play. Reeve was called for a technical with 57.6 seconds remaining, Catchings made the free throw and the Fever took an 81-74 lead. Zellous made two more free throws with 27.2 seconds to play, and Fever fans began celebrating.

Seimone Augustus, Minnesota's leading scorer in the playoffs, was held to eight points on 3-for-21 shooting on Sunday. She shot 6-for-30 in the final two games of the series after the Fever switched January over to guard her.

Catchings said January, who was on the WNBA first-team all-defense squad, did her job.

''I think she set the tone,'' Catchings said. ''All her (Augustus') baskets were hard. She used up all her energy in the first quarter.''

Whalen scored 22 points and Moore added 16 points for the Lynx, who were vying to become the first team to win consecutive titles since Los Angeles in 2001 and 2002.

Moore picked up her third foul with 6:13 left in the second quarter. Reeve, who was fined for her jacket-tossing tantrum in Game 2, became animated again while disagreeing with the call. As the crowd erupted, Reeve waved hello and made the motion for a technical foul.

This time, Reeve's antics didn't help much as in Game 2, when her team pulled away from a tight contest after her technical foul for a convincing win. Minnesota tied the game three times in the second quarter, but the Fever closed with a 7-2 run, including a 3-pointer by Phillips, to take a 47-42 lead at halftime. Whalen scored 14 points in the first half to keep the Lynx in the game, often scoring on uncontested drives. Minnesota hung tough, despite Augustus shooting 2-for-13 in the first half.

It was right there for the Fever.

''Coming into halftime, we said we have 20 minutes and we're not trying to go back to to Minnesota to close this thing out,'' Zellous said.

Indiana started the second half on a 9-4 run, including two buckets by Catchings, to take a 56-46 lead.

Minnesota came right back. A driving layup by Moore cut Indiana's lead to 56-54 and forced the Fever to call timeout.

Minnesota tied the game on another drive by Moore, but the Fever responded with a 3-pointer by Catchings and a basket by Jessica Davenport to push the lead back to five by the end of the quarter.

Indiana then closed the deal at home in front of a sellout crowd.

''They made some huge runs at us and gave it everything at us, and I'm just relieved more than anything because we deserve this,'' Phillips said. ''We've been through so much as a team, we've lost in crucial times and we've stuck together. I'm just so proud right now.''

LDS Church News - Family: 'The hearts of the children shall turn'

Published: Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012

"The family is ordained of God. It is the most important unit in time and in eternity" (Handbook 2: Administering the Church [2010], 1.1.1). For this reason, each of us has a significant role in strengthening families and as President Gordon B. Hinckley taught us, "When you save a girl, you save generations" (January 2004 Worldwide Leadership Training Meeting).

Sister Mary N. Cook

As I have served, I have witnessed and pondered the tremendous impact our young women and young men can have in strengthening their homes and families through their righteous living. I have also observed their great contribution in uniting families eternally as they participate in family history and performing baptisms for the dead in our temples.

Turn the hearts of Young women to their families

The standard of "Family" in For the Strength of Youth states: "Share your testimony with your family through words and actions. Your righteous example can make a difference in strengthening your family."

When I was a baby, my father was involved in a serious mine explosion which resulted in many health and financial challenges for my family. With the heavy responsibility of caring for my father, providing a living, and raising two small children, my mother depended on extended family and members of the Church to help her teach us good values. Grandparents, aunts and uncles, priesthood and Young Women leaders encouraged us and many were my examples of righteous living. My brother and I "took the teachings home" and as a family we practiced patterns of righteous living.

Intellectual Reserve, Inc.

Young Women general presidency is encouraging LDS young women to participate in family history.

The testimony of my older brother and his example of righteousness had eternal consequences for my family. In one of his missionary letters home, he expressed his love and confidence that my parents could prepare and be worthy of the sacred ordinances of the temple. During the next year, our family made some changes to prepare for his return and to be ready to receive these temple blessings. Just two weeks after he returned from his mission, a prayer that I had uttered for many years as a young woman became a reality as we were sealed as a family for eternity.

Over and over, I hear stories of youth who have been examples of righteousness in their homes. For the Strength of Youth states: "If your family does not do these things together, pray and study the scriptures yourself. Your example may encourage your family members to join you."

One of the purposes of Personal Progress is to help young women develop these holy habits and turn their hearts to their families. (See Joseph Smith?History 1:39). Often when I ask young women to describe a challenging value experience, they will cite Divine Nature #3: "Make your home life better. For two weeks make a special effort to strengthen your relationship with a family member by showing love through your actions. Refrain from judging, criticizing, or speaking unkindly, and watch for positive qualities in that family member. Write notes of encouragement, pray for this family member, find ways to be helpful, and verbally express your love. Share your experiences and the divine qualities you've discovered with that family member or with a parent or leader" (Personal Progress, p. 23). I delight in hearing young women testify of the tender feelings of love that come from serving a family member and looking beyond their own needs.

Heed the words of Latter-day prophets

Because of the importance of family and its vital role in the plan of salvation, family is a frequently addressed topic in general conference. For example, Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve counseled us that "the moral issues of our day must be addressed in the family" ("Can Ye Feel So Now?," October 2012 general conference). We should point our young women to these timely messages and help them determine what they will do to hearken to these prophetic words.

Young Women leaders, you may wish to take time during Sunday lessons for a general conference review. You could have the young women study Elder Cook's talk or read Elder L. Tom Perry's address and come prepared to discuss the five practices to strengthen the culture of a family: prayer, family home evening, communicating with Church leaders, sharing testimonies and following clear, simple family rules and expectations. Invite the young women to "take it home" and lead a discussion at family home evening about Elder Cook's counsel or how Elder Perry's five practices might strengthen their families.

Participate in family history work

Elder David A. Bednar and Elder Richard G. Scott, both of the Quorum of the Twelve, have both recently extended invitations to the youth to participate in family history work. Elder Bednar reminded the youth of the immense contribution they can make in uniting eternal families. Said he, "It is no coincidence that FamilySearch and other tools have come forth at a time when young people are so familiar with a wide range of information and communication technologies. Your fingers have been trained to text and tweet to accelerate and advance the work of the Lord ? not just to communicate quickly with your friends. The skills and aptitude evident among many young people today are a preparation to contribute to the work of salvation" ("The Hearts of the Children Shall Turn," Ensign, November 2011).

I loved Elder Scott's suggestion that being a part of family history and temple work will be a protection to our youth. He said, "Do you young people want a sure way to eliminate the influence of the adversary in your life? Immerse yourself in searching for your ancestors, prepare their names for the sacred vicarious ordinances available in the temple, and then go to the temple to stand as proxy for them to receive the ordinances of baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. As you grow older, you will be able to participate in receiving the other ordinances as well. I can think of no greater protection from the influence of the adversary in your life" ("The Joy of Redeeming the Dead," October 2012 general conference).

Help our young women turn their hearts to their fathers by encouraging them to exemplify in their families the words in For the Strength of Youth. Invite them to take their learning home by pointing them to Personal Progress and to the words of latter-day prophets regarding the family. Provide opportunities for them to participate in family history and temple work. As "the hearts of [our young women] turn," (See Malachi 4:6) they will not only be protected as Elder Scott promised, but also they will be a blessing to their families now and in the future.

Rights group: Yemen security forces raid hospitals

SANAA, Yemen (AP) ? Yemeni security forces have raided hospitals in Aden in search of suspected militants, threatening health care in the southern port city, an international rights group said Saturday.

Human Rights Watch also said government forces have stormed two hospitals in Aden at least five times this year, and on one occasion dragged a seriously wounded patient from intensive care after removing drainage tubes. The raids have forced one hospital to suspend its operations and others to turn patients away in fear of violence, the group said in a statement.

"Gunfights in hospitals put patients and medical workers at grave risk and threaten to shut down health care in Aden," said Letta Tayler, HRW's Yemen researcher. "Both security forces and their opponents are showing callous indifference to human life."

The head of Central Security Forces in Aden, Col. Abdul-Hafiz al-Saqqaf, denied that his agents had stormed hospitals, but said they went in to arrest three wanted outlaws who have attacked government checkpoints. Another security official in Sanaa denied those arrested are political opponents, calling them outlaws who are hired to sow chaos in Yemen.

In its report, Human Rights Watch said security officials describe the patients as suspects in serious crimes, including armed robberies and attacks against state security forces. The officials also said some of the suspects have links to the southern opposition movement, which is seeking greater autonomy for the former South Yemen.

Yemen's weak central government has been grappling with increased lawlessness in the country since the mass protest movement erupted last year against longtime leader Ali Abdullah Saleh, who was forced to step down in February. The political unrest compounded the country's already long list of problems ? poverty, a southern succession movement and a growing threat from al-Qaida-linked militants.

Islamic extremists took over a swath of territory and several towns in southern Yemen over the past year before a military offensive pushed them out this summer, although the militants continue to carry out bombings and assassinations in Aden and other cities in the south.

Security forces are also engaged in a simmering conflict with opponents and supporters of Saleh who continue to stir up trouble for the central government, often challenging official decisions and in some cases defying orders. Saleh had warned that Yemen won't see stability if his supporters are removed from office.

Human Rights Watch said some of the raids on hospitals have turned violent, and have included attacks on guards and staff. Other raids sparked brief gunfire on hospital grounds.

In one incident earlier this month, security forces beat hospital guards and shot a 16-year-old fruit vendor in the head during an exchange of fire with gunmen trying to protect suspects from being arrested, HRW said.

The international humanitarian organization Medicins Sans Frontieres, or Doctors Without Borders, indefinitely suspended operations at its Aden hospital after another gunfight last month. It was the second time the organization had suspended its operations there this year.

HRW cited witnesses and an individual who investigated the attack said security forces and gunmen exchanged fire during a five-hour standoff at the MSF hospital, as the gunmen tried to prevent the arrest of two suspected militants. MSF was forced to evacuate 24 patients and close the facility, HRW said.

The governor of Aden told HRW that the wounded patients were "dangerous militants." Other health workers told HRW that nearly all hospitals in Aden now generally refuse to admit politically sensitive patients.
