CARROT Turns Your To-Do List into a Slightly Sadistic Game

CARROT Turns Your To-Do List into a Slightly Sadistic GameiOS: CARROT seeks to bring more fun and character to your tasks. It only provides you with a simple to-do list, but turns it into a game by giving you a robot master whom you can only please by getting things done.

CARROT calls itself a "to-do list with personality," which is pretty accurate. It appears as a more minimal HAL 9000-esque robot with character traits similar to GLaDOS, which is to say it's an intelligent circle that doesn't like you very much. Of course, you can change CARROT's opinion somewhat by doing your work. Adding and completing tasks earns you favor and points. As you continue to perform well, you'll gain levels in CARROT's mind. Gaining levels earns you some strange fortune cookies. If you don't do your work, however, CARROT's mood will change for the worse. In the beginning you are warned not to upset CARROT. That's a hornet's nest I have yet to kick.

CARROT isn't much different from your standard simple task list at the core. You get one list and you complete tasks with gestures. You can't have multiple lists, you can't categorize or tag, and you can't set deadlines. All you can do is add items to a list, much like you would with paper. This simplicity might be overkill for some, but for those of you who appreciate stark minimalism and want an extra kick in the butt from a sadistic robot, you'll want to give CARROT a shot.
