Redskins' Alfred Morris, London Fletcher Named to 2012 All-Pro Second Team

The Associated Press announced the 2012 NFL All-Pro Team?January 12 and Washington Redskins' running back Alfred Morris and inside linebacker London Fletcher were each second-team selections from a panel of 50 NFL writers. The two were the only Redskins selected.

Morris placed third (14 votes) behind first-team selections Adrian Peterson?of?Minnesota (50) and Marshawn Lynch of Seattle (24).

Fletcher placed fourth (seven votes) behind first-team selections Patrick Willis (30) and NaVarro Bowman (26), both from San Francisco.

The only other Redskins player to make the list was offensive tackle Trent Williams (five votes) who placed seventh. There were no other 'Skins to receive a single vote.

The selection of Morris and Fletcher, who both made the 2013 Pro-Bowl team as alternates, are much deserved as both players led the team in offensive and defensive categories for the Redskins.

Morris, a sixth-round selection in the 2012 NFL draft, was not near the top of the team's depth chart when the preseason started. ?Morris finished the 2012 regular season with the second-highest total rushing yards (1,613) in his rookie year and led the Redskins as the top ranked team in total rushing yards in 2012 (2,709) and team average per game (169 yards). ?

His record-setting rushing year also earned him the Rookie of the Week award three times, and he holds the franchise record for single-season rushing yards.

Fletcher is a 15-year veteran and led the defense in tackles and interceptions. Despite an injured hamstring much of the 2012 season, Fletcher has not missed a game as a professional since 1998 and continues a record of consecutive games played (240). ?

In the week following the team's Wild Card Game loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Fletcher stated he has not decided whether he is returning for another year. ?

The selection of Morris and Fletcher not only highlight their individual accomplishments and statistics but represents a level of respect among NFL writers that already exists on the team and fans of the Redskins.
